RULES:

Athlete Perks

All athletes will be given a “VIP Athlete Ticket” to the entire show along with an additional “Plus 1 General Admission Ticket”.

Each athlete is allowed a maximum of 3 cornermen/coaches to join them at ring side during their assigned match up segment.

Each athlete is given a free food and drink voucher and access to free water bottles during the entire Jiu-Jitsu competition segment.

Match Format

Each match will be:

  • 7 minutes

  • Submission only

  • No points

  • No advantages

  • EBI overtime if no submission happens in regulation

The goal is simple: finish the match.

Regulation Time

Competitors will have 7 minutes to secure a submission.

A match can end during regulation by:

  • Submission
A competitor taps physically, verbally, or the referee stops the match to protect the athlete.

  • Referee Stoppage
The referee may stop the match at any time if a competitor is in danger, unable to safely continue, or refuses to intelligently defend.

If There Is No Submission

If the match reaches the end of regulation with no submission, the match will go to EBI Overtime. ⇦ reference link (Eddie Bravo)

EBI Overtime Rules

Each competitor will get a chance to attack from a dominant position.

Starting positions may include:

Back control
or
Spiderweb / armbar position

In EBI overtime, each competitor gets a turn attacking from either back control or spider web/armbar position, with the offensive competitor choosing the position. Each overtime turn has a 2-minute limit and ends by submission, escape, or loss of control outside of the approved live positions: back, spider web, or truck, unless a submission is actively being attacked in transition. If one competitor submits their opponent, the other must submit faster on their turn to win; if neither gets a submission after 3 overtime rounds, the competitor with the fastest total escape time wins. Leg attacks are only legal from the truck, and if the defensive competitor catches a submission, it counts only as an escape.

The competitor who escapes fastest or secures the submission wins the overtime round. If needed, additional overtime rounds may be used to determine a winner.

Winning the Match

A competitor can win by:

  • Submission in regulation

  • Submission in overtime

  • Fastest escape time in overtime

  • Referee decision in the event of unusual circumstances

No slamming.
No striking.
No intentional injury or usage of illegal technique.

  • Shoulder locks

  • Straight ankle locks

  • Heel hooks are allowed in approved advanced matches

The referee has final say in all match decisions.
